Description
We’re not just another winery (although we do make small batches of handcrafted red grape wines). We’re also a meadery! Mead is honey wine – possibly the world’s oldest fermented drink – and it’s very special.
Meadmaking is an ancient craft, now being revived worldwide, and our little family-run meadery in Womboota, in NSW’s far southwest Riverina region, is one of the pioneers of modern meadmaking in Australia. For over twenty years, through two generations, our family has been on a meadmaking adventure, always full of new challenges and rewards – and we love sharing the results with our customers.
Maybe you’re already a dedicated mead enthusiast, or maybe you’ve always wanted to try the favourite drink of heroes, kings and queens, Norse gods, Vikings, monks – and wizards!
Whoever you are, we hope you’ll taste the romance of the past when you sip one of our meads. And we think you’ll be tantalised and delighted by just how subtle and enchanting mead can be in the modern world, when it’s brimming with the flavours of Australian bush honeys.
Our cellar door and pottery at Womboota are daily (except Mondays) from 10am-5.00pm*, and you’re most welcome to visit! *Please note – we”re also closed on Christmas Day, Good Friday and the morning of ANZAC Day.
