Lockington
Lockington is a small, tight knit farming community, situated 25 minutes’ drive south-west of Echuca.
For a small community Locky, as it’s coined by locals, packs a punch with many great events throughout the year including local sporting matches, the Lockington and District Vintage Tractor Rally in April and several camp drafts.
Lockington Hotel is home to some of the best pub food in regional Victoria!
The township is famed for being home to Hollywood star Travis Fimmel and the late Kevin Sarre, Locky’s favourite son and shearing champion.
Head to Lockington and District Living Heritage Complex, a local history museum paying homage to an incredible array of heritage farming equipment aligned to the region.

Kyabram
Kyabram is a major fruit and dairy producing region nestled in the Goulburn Valley, conveniently located between Echuca and Shepparton. Affectionately known as ‘Ky’ by the locals, it is close to the Murray and Goulburn Rivers and Waranga Basin.
The town’s star attraction is the Kyabram Fauna Park, renowned for its breeding and conservation of native Australian animals, birds and reptiles who call the park home. The Park has recently had a makeover and is well worth a visit - for the up close animal encounters, hand feeding, education sessions, special events or just a relaxing wetlands walk. A truly natural experience.
Experience boutique cinema at its finest at the Plaza Theatre. The Plaza opened in 1929 as a cinema, theatre, playhouse and dance palais making it one of the original and oldest, longest running of its kind. The Plaza is currently under renovations but check their Facebook for arthouse and commercial films, live performances and specialty events.
Kyabram Parkland is Kyabram's Par 3, 18 Hole Golf Course, home of the Victorian Par 3 Championships and the only Par 3 course in Victoria! The perfect way to swing away an afternoon.
Arts and culture tickle your fancy? Look no further than the Kyabram Town Hall – a volunteer-run hub of history, textile art traditional and contemporary art & information. Five exhibition spaces provide a variety of experiences. Galleries feature work by Splinter Contemporary Artists and visiting exhibitors including art, craft, sculptures and textiles. Ask one of the friendly volunteers on the front counter for tourist and local information tips.
Ky’s central shopping precinct is dotted with captivating street art includes specialty, general retail, services and free parking.
The Kyabram Water Tank was painted by Jimmy D'Vate and completed in March 2021. The water tank mural highlights the wetlands at the Kyabram Fauna Park, a crucial tourism and environmental feature of Kyabram. Featured on the tank is the Eastern long necked turtle, the Golden Whistler and a Red-capped Robin which has been brought to life on the side of the tank. Also featured are other birds, animals and insects which include a Yellow crimson Rosetta, a Major-Mitchell cockatoo, a Plains-wanderer, a spotted-tail Quoll, a Blue skimmer dragon fly, a brolga and a Bush stone curlew. Gunbower
Located in the north-west, Gunbower is renowned as the gateway to Australia’s largest inland island – more than 50km long, the aptly named Gunbower Island. An abundance of native animals including marsupials, mammals and reptiles inhabit the island, sharing the space with over 160 species of birds including the rare and endangered.
Gunbower is surrounded by picturesque meandering creeks and waterways - offering a retreat for nature-lovers featuring great fishing and bird watching spots.
Kayaking and canoeing is a popular pastime, with two key paddling events on Gunbower’s annual calendar – the Black Swan race in March and Massive Murray Paddle in November.
The Gunbower Lions Park is a relaxing lunch stop, now featuring a natural mural featuring some of the feathered friends & floral renowned to the area, complimented across the road at the Gunbower Hotel by renowned graffiti artist Jimmy D’vate’s large scale dedication to the town.
